Ross W. Feinberg

Ross W. Feinberg, Esq. joins Signature Resolution as one of the most experienced construction and multiparty mediators in the country, having resolved more than 3,000 cases over a career that spans nearly two decades as a full-time neutral and decades more as a trial lawyer before that.

Listening comes first for Ross, and he takes it seriously enough that parties notice. He insists that every party knows they’ve been genuinely heard before he moves toward resolution. That patience is paired with directness: attorneys who have mediated with him describe someone affable and approachable who nonetheless knows when to bring the parties together and press them, tough when the moment calls for it, but never adversarial. He requests pre-session briefs from every side, will visit a disputed property or job site himself when it helps him understand the facts, and has built a reputation for saying the hard things attorneys often can’t say to their own clients, because it lands differently coming from a neutral. When a case runs long, he runs long with it, staying at the table well into the evening, and sometimes past it, until the parties get to yes.

That instinct comes from where his career actually began. Ross started representing homeowners’ associations as a plaintiffs’ attorney in the late 1980s, mentored early on by the late Orange County Superior Court Judge Jerrold S. Oliver, who pioneered the case management order used to organize today’s complex, multiparty construction litigation. Ross went on to found his own firm, Feinberg, Grant, Kaneda & Litt LLP, with offices in Newport Beach and Las Vegas, representing plaintiffs in disputes that sometimes involved 40 or 50 parties at once and learning early how to keep that many people organized and informed. That plaintiffs’-side foundation is precisely what now makes him trusted by the other side: the majority of his mediation referrals come from the builders, developers, and general contractors he once opposed in litigation, specifically because they saw firsthand how he worked.

Ross’s standing in the construction and community association field reflects decades of recognition. He received the Jerrold S. Oliver Award of Excellence at the West Coast Casualty Conference on Construction Defects in 2003, and was later named National Educator of the Year by the Community Associations Institute, where he also served as national president, the largest organization in the world serving community and homeowners’ associations. He is AV rated, admitted to practice in California, Nevada, and Colorado, and has chaired or spoken at more than 100 national seminars on topics ranging from construction defect litigation to real estate brokerage and common interest development law. He co-authored the 2006 book Construction Defect Litigation, still available for purchase on Amazon today.

Outside the mediation room, Ross is known for riding his Harley Davidson, a sharp sense of style attorneys have noticed over the years, and a hobby as an accomplished photographer.
