"I enjoy being a facilitator, a peacemaker. I find a lot of satisfaction in making life a little bit better for all the parties who’ve gone through something that’s difficult. Litigation is challenging for the lawyers as well as for the parties, and I find value in offering my small contribution, bringing a little bit of peace to the warring parties."

Biography

Roger Clark joins Signature Resolution with a vision to establish a national aviation practice in the field of mediation. His expertise in this area, along with his forbearing approach to mediation, allows him to serve as an ideal peacemaker and advocate for bringing parties together. Over the course of his forty-four years in law, Mr. Clark has tried numerous cases in the state and federal trial courts of Florida and California. In addition, he has litigated, tried, advised, and handled cases filed in state and federal courts throughout the United States.

He practiced before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth and Eleventh Circuits, where he has argued an extensive slate of cases. Mr. Clark finds aviation law to embody the best of both worlds when it comes to his expertise and interests. He thrives on the unique challenge of navigating the tensions between state, federal, and international laws at play in this area of practice. Aviation disputes are not only some of the most expensive, and often the most heavily covered by media, but also the most difficult for the parties involved. Mr. Clark understands the trauma that survivors and victims’ families endure and prides himself on playing a pivotal role in settling these cases without the further emotional toll of a trial.

For this reason, Mr. Clark finds patience to be key in his approach to mediation. He views his initial role in disputes as a facilitator, helping parties come to reasonable understandings. When a reasonable ground is established, his role evolves into that of an evaluator, weighing the strengths and weaknesses of cases and helping all parties understand the risks and uncertainties associated with the appropriate outcomes. Mr. Clark received his mediator training at Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine Law School; is a member of the United States District Court, Central District of California Federal Mediation Panel; and is a member of the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura State Mediation Panel.

To this day, aviation remains his passion. Mr. Clark has received his private pilot’s license and teaches aviation law as a Visiting Professor of Law at Rutgers Law School, where he was also honored as Adjunct Professor of the Year. His hobbies in his spare time are as notable as his career accomplishments; Mr. Clark is an actor, golfer, water-skier, and writer of nonfiction and fiction books, as well as an experienced long-range hiker.
