Biography

Justin T. Goodwin comes to Signature Resolution with rare experience at the forefront of class action, employment, and complex commercial litigation.Heralded for tackling the thorniest cases as a litigator, Justin now brings that elite problem-solving to the mediation table, guiding parties to resolution of even the most complex and emotionally charged disputes.

Justin’s approach begins from the premise that no two disputes are alike. Cookie-cutter process does not resolve hard cases, so he shapes each mediation to the matter at hand — the parties, the pressures they face, and what resolution genuinely requires — with a style that stays pragmatic and flexible throughout. He arrives thoroughly prepared on the substance of every dispute, but preparation is only the starting point. Justin devotes the early work of each session to building trust with every party and cutting through the noise to understand what truly matters to the people in the room, because parties move toward resolution when they believe their mediator has genuinely heard them.

Justin’s mediation approach is rooted in his litigation experience. He began his career at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where he cut his teeth on multi-district, bet-the-business wage and hour class actions. From that foundation, he built a practice of remarkable range: cutting-edge consumer class actions across the automotive, consumer packaged goods, fintech, and retail industries, to name a few; complex commercial litigation; and the full spectrum of employment disputes, including wage and hour class actions, PAGA, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims. He litigated these cases not only in California state court but in federal courts across the country, and that breadth gives him immediate fluency in the substance, procedure, and strategic dynamics of virtually any dispute that reaches his table.

Justin is consistently recognized for his work in the legal arena. He was named a “Leader of Influence” by the Los Angeles Business Journal in 2023, honored as one of the 40 best attorneys under 40 by both the Daily Journal (2021) and Benchmark Litigation (2023), and has earned annual recognition from Benchmark Litigation (2023–2026), Best Lawyers in America (2024–present), and Super Lawyers (2022–present). The Daily Journal also recognized his successful Ninth Circuit appeal as one of the “Top Appellate Reversals of 2014.”

Throughout his career, Justin has been committed to expanding access to justice. His pro bono practice has focused on representing immigrants and survivors of domestic violence who could not otherwise afford legal representation — work that has never let him forget what a case can mean in a person’s life. He currently serves as a Volunteer Settlement Officer with the Los Angeles Superior Court, helping litigants across the county resolve their cases. Whether a dispute involves a single employee or a certified class, Justin brings the same conviction to every mediation: resolution is almost always achievable, and parties deserve a neutral as invested in reaching it as they are. He engages fully, thinks creatively in the hardest moments, and stays at the table until the path through becomes clear.
