“Employment disputes are often as personal as they are legal. I work to ensure that parties feel heard while also helping them evaluate their situation clearly, so they can move forward with resolution that reflects both their interests and the realities of the case.”

Biography
Jonathan D. Andrews stands as one of the leading employment mediators in the country, bringing a rare combination of elite, real world legal experience and an exceptional track record of resolution to complex, emotionally charged workplace disputes. With an authentic, tenacious, and people-focused approach, Jonathan is widely recognized for his ability to navigate high-stakes conflict and guide parties toward meaningful outcomes.
His mediation style is both engaged and pragmatic. Jonathan works to understand not only the legal framework of a dispute, but also the human dynamics driving it. He listens closely, asks direct questions, and helps parties evaluate risk with candor and precision. He is comfortable addressing difficult issues head-on when needed, while maintaining a respectful and constructive tone that keeps negotiations moving forward. This balance allows him to navigate impasse effectively and help parties reach resolution in matters that are often complex, personal, and difficult to resolve.
Jonathan’s effectiveness as a mediator is grounded in more than two decades of litigation experience and over a decade leading his own successful law firm. He has handled a wide range of employment disputes, including wage and hour class actions, PAGA claims, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination matters. This background gives him a comprehensive understanding of how these cases are developed, litigated, and ultimately resolved, as well as the strategic considerations that influence both plaintiffs and defendants.
His professional standing is reflected in consistent recognition by peers and industry organizations. Jonathan has been named a Super Lawyer in Labor and Employment Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution for 18 consecutive years from 2009 through 2026 and has repeatedly been selected among the Top 50 Super Lawyers in San Diego. He has also been recognized in Best Lawyers in America for his work in employment law and labor and employment litigation. These distinctions reflect not only his legal acumen, but also the respect he has earned within the legal community.
Jonathan received his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School and his LL.M. in Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute at Pepperdine University, where he concentrated on mediation. His academic training, combined with his extensive litigation background, provides a strong analytical foundation for his work as a neutral.
In addition to his professional work, Jonathan is deeply committed to his community. He has been actively involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County for more than 16 years and currently serves on its Board of Directors. In recognition of his contributions, he and his wife were honored as Big Champions in 2020 and later recognized among the organization’s “Change Makers” for their lasting impact.
As a mediator, Jonathan combines credibility, preparation, and a direct, thoughtful approach. He helps parties move past entrenched positions, evaluate their options realistically, and reach resolution through informed and deliberate decision- making.
