Biography

Craig Schloss brings over 40 years of expertise in all aspects of employment law and trade secrets disputes to Signature Resolution’s panel of neutrals. A seasoned litigator with substantial experience in conflict resolution, Mr. Schloss is known for his strategic mindset, creative problem-solving and commitment to achieving outcomes that benefit all parties.

Mr. Schloss’ illustrious legal career includes office managing partner leadership roles at prestigious law firms, including Morrison Foerster and Jackson Lewis. Known for his skill in managing high-stakes and emotionally-charged litigation, he built a reputation for fostering collaboration and early resolution, steering parties away from unnecessary legal battles. 

Although he mostly advised and represented employers in his law practice, he also represented employees in trade secrets, non-compete and severance matters. His approach to dispute management is grounded in efficiency and practicality, earning the trust and respect of clients and peers alike.

In his conflict resolution roles, Mr. Schloss has used a hybrid evaluative and facilitative approach, assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each matter, while fostering trust and compromise. He has emphasized collaboration and preparation, drawing from his extensive legal and community leadership experience to address each party’s priorities. Mr. Schloss firmly believes that timely and strategic mediation almost always delivers a better outcome for all parties than prolonged litigation.

A graduate of the University of Arizona and The University of Illinois College of Law, where he participated in a joint degree program with the College of Labor and Industrial Relations, Mr. Schloss has earned numerous accolades, including recognition for decades by Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers and San Diego Daily Transcript Top Attorneys, as well as an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He also has been honored as a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. 

Mr. Schloss’s influence extends beyond the courtroom. He was a long time board member and board chair with the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) of San Diego, and continues to serve as a member of the Past President’s Advisory Board. He did extensive pro bono legal work for the JCC and led the JCC Personnel Committee for decades. Among other awards from the JCC, he received the David K. Kroll Leadership Award for his commitment to community service, recognizing his many and sustained contributions to the organization. Mr. Schloss also served as a long term member and chair of the San Diego Symphony Board. He was invited to join the board following his pivotal role in negotiating a new groundbreaking collective bargaining agreement and San Diego Opera contract for the Symphony and its musicians which helped secure full-time employment for musicians and financial stability for the Symphony. Mr. Schloss has also served on the board and as president of the San Diego North County Personnel Association and the San Diego Chapter of LERA (Labor and Employer Relations Association).

With a career marked by legal excellence, community impact and a dedication to conflict resolution, Mr. Schloss continues to help parties navigate disputes effectively and collaboratively in his role as a Signature Resolution neutral.
