Biography
Scott A. Edelman brings more than four decades of trial, appellate, and dispute resolution experience to his work helping parties navigate complex, high-stakes conflicts with clarity and purpose. A Fellow of both the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, he is recognized nationally for his balanced judgment, strategic insight, and ability to guide parties toward durable resolutions. Known for his empathy, preparation, and poise, he draws on a career litigating landmark matters across industries to help clients find common ground and meaningful closure.
Having long valued mediation as an advocate, Scott was drawn to serve as a neutral to help parties reach resolution efficiently and with dignity. He views his role as a mediator as an opportunity to combine his extensive trial experience with his natural ability to understand differing perspectives and diffuse conflict. His philosophy is grounded in respect for all participants, thorough preparation, and steady guidance through both legal and emotional complexities. He focuses on helping clients move beyond dispute toward resolution and relief.
Scott built his distinguished career at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, where he became a Partner and served as Chair of the firm’s Media, Entertainment & Technology Practice Group and Transnational Litigation Group. He also held several leadership positions, including Executive Committee Member, Partnership Evaluation Committee Member, and National Pro Bono Chair. Over the course of his practice, he tried more than 30 jury trials, bench trials and arbitrations, argued dozens of appeals, and represented clients in hundreds of mediations. His work spanned entertainment law, transnational mass tort, antitrust, class action, probate, real estate, and employment matters, including high-profile cases such as AMC’s The Walking Dead profit-participation litigation, major transnational mass tort disputes for Dole and Chevron, and complex antitrust and employment cases for global corporations.
Scott’s contributions to the legal profession have been recognized by Benchmark Litigation, Chambers, Law360, and Am Law Litigation Daily, among others. Lawdragon named him among its Top 500 Litigators for 2025 across multiple categories. He has been honored as a “Legal Legend” by The Hollywood Reporter and a Top 100 “Power Lawyer” by Variety for his professional achievements.
Beyond his practice, Scott is deeply committed to service and mentorship. He has held leadership roles with Bet Tzedek, KCET, the Alliance for Children’s Rights, Wilshire Boulevard Temple, and the American Jewish Committee. A dedicated mentor, he continues to counsel young lawyers on balancing excellence with empathy and professionalism.
Outside his professional commitments, Scott is an avid skier, tennis and pickleball player, and an aspiring golfer who enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his wife, family, and their two dogs.
